According to customs data, domestic imports of stainless steel totaled 231,500 tons in September 2023, up 32.55% month-on-month and down 14.96% year-on-year. Cumulative imports from January to September amounted to 1.3858 million tons, which is 43.34% less than the same period last year!
Among them, Indonesia is the largest importer of stainless steel in my country. In September, the import volume from Indonesia was 202,400 tons, an increase of 28.16% month-on-month and a decrease of 13.81% year-on-year. From January to September, a total of 1.0976 million tons of stainless steel was imported from Indonesia, down 46.89% year-on-year.
Looking at the breakdown of goods imported from Indonesia:
In September, imports of wide-format cold-rolled steel amounted to 89.9 thousand tons, which is 20.02% less than last month, and year-on-year - 25.11%.
In September, imports of wide hot-rolled coils amounted to 18.2 thousand tons, an increase of 68.13% month-on-month and 170.97% year-on-year;
In September, 94.3 thousand tons of other products and semi-finished products were imported (including 79.4 thousand tons of billets and 14.9 thousand tons of slabs), which is 66.38% more than the previous month and less than last year, by 12.74%.
In September, imports from China, Taiwan, Germany and other regions decreased compared to the previous month.
